Ruby star rings showcase the optical phenomenon known as asterism, where needle-like rutile inclusions create a six-rayed star that glides across the stone's surface. Our collection features natural ruby set in .925 sterling silver, with 36,647 rings priced from $6 to $6,302. Ruby rates 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, second only to diamond, making these star ruby rings suitable for regular wear. Free US shipping applies to every order.

Asterism occurs when rutile needles form inside the ruby crystal in three intersecting directions. Light reflects off these aligned inclusions to create a six-rayed star pattern on the stone's surface.
Clean with warm water and mild soap using a soft cloth. Ruby's 9 Mohs hardness resists scratching, but the cabochon surface can collect oils from skin contact. Store separately from softer stones to prevent damage to other jewelry.
The dome shape of a cabochon cut allows light to enter the stone and reflect off the internal rutile needles. Faceted cuts would scatter light in multiple directions and prevent the star from forming.
