Pietersite rings showcase one of the mineral world's most dynamic optical effects. This rare silicified crocidolite forms in only two locations: Namibia and China's Hunan Province. Each stone displays swirling bands of gold, blue, and bronze that shift with movement, an effect called chatoyance. Our collection of 8 pietersite rings ranges from $1349 to $2298, with every stone set in solid .925 sterling silver. Free shipping to all US addresses.

Pietersite is a variety of chalcedony containing embedded fibers of amphibole minerals. It forms in only two locations worldwide: Namibia, where Sid Pieters discovered it in 1962, and China's Hunan Province.
Pietersite rates 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, comparable to quartz. This makes it suitable for regular wear, though removing rings during heavy manual work helps prevent chips or scratches.
The shimmer comes from chatoyance, an optical effect caused by light reflecting off fibrous mineral inclusions. Pietersite's fragmented, swirling fiber structure creates multi-directional light play that shifts as the stone moves.
